If you could go back in time, where would you go?

The late fifties and all of the sixties. Brookyln and New York. The greatest surge in American Intellectualism happened here in this period of time, maybe our last.

Favorite travel spot?

Any empty beach, I’m running.

Favorite dessert?

Rice pudding and Italian Pastries.

If you were stuck on a deserted island, which 3 books would you want with you?

J.D. Salinger’s “Catcher In The Rye,” a Jean Genet collection with “The Thief’s Journal,” and “Our Lady of The Flowers.” Finally Jack Kerouac’s “On The Road.”

What’s the funniest thing that ever happened to you? The scariest? The strangest?

Due to my absent mindedness I found myself in places I had no intensions of going. The scariest was the incidents in my novel. The strangest was to see my dead friends on the streets during the Aides epidemic, only to realize after approaching each of them…it was not them. They were dead.

What’s the most courageous thing you’ve ever done?

Bringing up my two children alone.

Any hobbies? or Name a quirky thing you like to do.

Baseball, collecting vintage antiques. I never enter or sit on the left side for the last 45 years because Christ sat on the right hand of God and I can never imagine myself sitting on the left.

If there is one thing you want readers to remember about you, what would it be?

I found my freedom and truth.
